Born and raised in West Java Indonesia, Tammara believes in the healing power of food and has dedicated her life to addressing social and environmental injustice. Through her research on food systems, Tammara works on identifying solutions to complex problems such as food insecurity, food waste, and seeks to inform policymakers on how to develop sustainable and equitable foods systems in Canada and beyond.

As the first Hijabi professor at Simon Fraser University, Tammara seeks to create an inclusive space for diverse students and scholars and is inspired to serve the community by breaking the bias.  She is a mother of three and lives by the motto of #loveforallhatredfornone.
